why Pinterest should be part of your business marketing strategy online

I’ve had this post running about in my mind for a while now. I’ll be launching my 1-to-1 Pinterest Coaching 1st October, so this seems like the perfect time to talk about my back story and why I’ve found myself helping people grow their small business using Pinterest.

Why Pinterest?

If you’ve seen my Twitter account over the years you might have seen me talking about fake followers, fake engagement and how much I hate it. I especially hate it because blogging (and its sister careers) is very close to my heart.

Blogging helped me cope with chronic pain and other health issues. I’ve watched it grow and seen genuine, passionate people make careers from nothing.

Blogging and social media can be incredible. Women especially benefit from what the Internet has to offer. I am thrilled to see women like Sara from Me & Orla, Amber from Forever Amber and All That Is She create mini empires. The reason these people (and 100s of others) are so successful is because they worked for it. They learned their trade and put the hours in.

So when I see people buying 60k followers, adding likes to every post and getting comments from comment pods it pisses me off. A lot. And yes that is a specific example, I’m not making that up. Unfortunately it’s not an anomaly either. The ‘influencer’ industry is made up of a considerable proportion of people faking their social media presence and popularity.

I became really jaded with Instagram. I love the community on there. I have made some absolutely amazing friends thanks to Instagram. So I have a huge love/hate relationship with it.

Around a year and a half ago I started exploring other platforms more. I still love Twitter but I don’t get a huge amount of traffic from it. I had heard over and over again that Pinterest was amazing.

I had used Pinterest personally when looking for a new hairstyle or planning a room makeover. I really wasn’t sure how or why Pinterest would benefit my blog.

Plus I was blogging, posting on Instagram, wasting my time on Twitter (oops) while also being a mum and dealing with chronic illness. Could I really add another platform to my already unsustainable schedule?

Learning All About Pinterest

I started reading everything I could about Pinterest from Pinterest. They have an amazing academic publications section if you want to dive into that or the Pinterest Engineering Medium is a goldmine too. Pinterest also do webinars and have a YouTube channel.

I love that Pinterest are really open with their knowledge and want creators/pinners to succeed on their platform.

I also took Pinning Perfect course, read and watched everything from Tailwind* (they work closely with Pinterest). I have to thank my academic background (I have a Masters degree) here. I love research and then I love writing up want I learnt about that research. In a way, hopefully!, that is helpful to others.

I tried all different strategies to see what works and what doesn’t on Pinterest. Then I started seeing some amazing results.

And it wasn’t just me that was seeing results. People on my email list and others who read and implemented my free Pinterest guide starting getting results too.

It became clear that Pinterest should be part of a business’s marketing strategy and I wanted to give people all the most up-to-date information and strategies that work.

So that’s why I am offering 1-to-1 Pinterest coaching. Soon there will also be a Pinterest course. I’m hoping to launch this later in the year.

Pinterest Should be Part of Your Marketing Plan

I really regret not using Pinterest earlier. I love Instagram and I think it’s still great for marketing your blog/small creative business. But it absolutely should not be the main marketing tool online.

I really regret not using Pinterest earlier. I love Instagram and I think it’s still great for marketing your blog/small creative business. But it absolutely should not be the main marketing tool online.

I am adamant Pinterest should be a part of your online business marketing. Pinterest can grow your traffic, it can target your right people, it can raise awareness for your brand and it can also be a place of inspiration for you too.

I know that starting on another platform can be time consuming and even overwhelming. There’s so much information out there on driving 1000s of page views a month or quick hacks to success on Pinterest. It’s a minefield.

What I want to do with my coaching is provide people with long term strategies that work in a sustainable way.

The only way to grow your business in any real way is to do it slowly and authentically.

My coaching will give you the tools that can help you succeed on Pinterest. You’ll receive tried and tested techniques that I’ve had success with and others have used successfully too. Read more about the coaching package here.

I have a waiting list where you will find out first about the launch plus a very special offer. To find out more about my Pinterest coaching and some feedback from others please visit my coaching page here.
