Revolution is one of the best budget drugstore brands at the moment. I love their eyeshadow palettes and their lipsticks but find their foundation to be hit and miss. I previously reviewed the original Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation here. Find out how I got on with the new Conceal & Hydrate foundation and concealer aimed all skin types, but particularly dry.

The Best Drugstore Foundation for Dry Skin?

The new Revolution Conceal & Hydrate foundation is the more hydrating counterpart to Revolution Conceal & Define so it should be better suited to normal to dry skin types.

Revolution describe their new foundation as being “specially formulated to suit every skin type and tone, but is particularly beneficial for dry skin. With hyaluronic acid, it offers all-day-long radiance and glow without settling into fine lines or clinging to dry patches. Housed in a luxe glass bottle with a new pump applicator for added control, this foundation offers medium to full coverage.”

Let’s see if those claims are true!

For reference I will be 43 soon. I have combination sensitive skin with an occasionally oily t-zone. Some visible pores around my nose and fine lines around my eyes. My current favourite foundation is CYO Lifeproof which is an amazing foundation for a natural finish with some radiance.

I’ve worn Conceal & Hydrate several times now, by itself and over a couple of my favourite primers (I’ll be doing a blog post soon about them). The foundation applies easily with a good medium-high coverage.

The colour selection for Conceal & Hydrate is amazing. My colour is F1 and there are a whole 6 shades under it. That’s unheard of! I am always the palest shade and often many foundations aren’t even light enough for me.

I was sent several of the lightest shades for review. I am giving the other shades that don’t suit to my local women’s shelter. So if you want to see the swatches Revolution has some great swatches of the Conceal & Hydrate foundation here.

F1 is a great shade match for me, it’s the palest shade with neutral undertones. There 50 shades in total which is brilliant, so you should find a good shade match.

Ahh I tried with Conceal & Hydrate foundation, I really did, but it just isn’t for my skin. Despite Revolution’s claims it does sink into fine lines. I think this is largely to do with glycerin being third in the ingredient list.

I also didn’t find this to especially plumping or giving very much radiance. I much prefer Revolution Pro Foundation Drops for a natural radiance. So, unfortunately Conceal & Hydrate foundation just isn’t for me. I have read quite a mix of reviews though and some people seem to love it so perhaps it is worth a go.

The Best Concealer for Dry Skin?

I have mixed feeling about the new Revolution Conceal & Hydrate concealer. Like the foundation, Revolution say that this concealer won’t settle into fine lines. And again, it does settle into fine lines. I cannot wear this concealer under my eyes at all.

However, this is a lovely concealer on the rest of the face. It covers blemishes and redness nicely as well as lasting pretty much all day.

I think Revolution Conceal & Hydrate foundation and concealer are definitely worth a try. The formula feels really nice and has good longevity but the foundation just doesn’t suit my skin. The concealer is a good concealer but just not for under the eyes, even with setting powder.
