Aldi Lacura Cuvee Royal- La Mer Dupe?

Products from Aldi Lacura Cuvee Royal range for review

I could easily sum this review up right now by saying OMG YOU NEED TO TRY THIS IT’S SO GOOD. But I will give you a wee bit more information than that, but OMG THIS IS SO GOOD AND YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO TRY IT.

What exactly is so good about Aldi’s Lacura Cuvee Royal range? Lots of things and not least the price, but I’ll talk about the actual products first. I’ve used several products from Aldi Lacura skincare ranges and one of my favourites is their Caviar range which I previously reviewed here and here if you fancy seeing what those products are like too. Lacura’s Caviar range is supposedly similar to La Prairie’s much more expensive skin care products while the Cuvee Royal is touted as being similar to the pricey La Mer. I can’t comment on the similarities because I’m just a pauper who’s never tried those products. But I have tried lots of incredible skin care ranges with excellent results, most recently is the brilliant Aurelia range. I haven’t posted about this yet but it really is a wonderful skin care range and can’t recommend it highly enough.

At the core of the Caviar range is (unsurprisingly) caviar, the Cuvee Royal range uses the amazing skin benefits that grapes can have. Grapes can help protect the skin’s collagen from environmental stresses as well as providing comforting moisturising and firming effects. As well as grapes being a key ingredient all the products from the Cuvee Royal range contain a patented ingredient called QT40. QT40 is supposed to help reduce skin sagging and refine skin features. I’ve only been using the range for around 2 weeks (Aldi say changes will be seen at around 28 days- I’ll update this post in due course) but so far so good! Let’s get to the specifics.

close up of Aldi Lacura Cuvee Royal 24 hour moisturiser, it looks a bit like whipped cream

Serum is one of my favourite skin care products to use. Serums contain much more targeted active ingredients than moisturiser, so using a serum specific to your skin’s needs should really help your routine. Lacura Cuvee Royal Luminous Serum Concentrate claims to improve skin’s hydration by 38% (that’s a very specific amount!) and also decrease wrinkle depth by 15% after 28 days of use. Lacura Cuvee Serum is thicker than many serums I’ve used and I find it spreads easier when heated slightly by your finger tips. The serum contains little bubbles of gold that impart a little bit of glow on the skin. This is subtle though so don’t worry about looking like a glitter ball (that’s definitely not something we should be scared of tbh). The gel like serum sinks in easily and leaves the skin soft and feeling hydrated. My skin definitely looks better already thanks to this. I was a bit concerned about Lacura Cuvee Royal Luminous Serum having a fragrance in it but so far it hasn’t caused any problems whatsoever. I’m not keen on the smell but it does fade really fast when on the skin. I’ve read other reviews saying they love the smell so it’s entirely down to personal preference. I think Lacura Cuvee Royal Luminous Serum is a brilliant serum, it seems to be doing what it says it does, I love how rich it is for a serum and best of all this is only £7.99! I’d happily pay much more for this, it’s a really great skincare product.

I’ve also been using Lacura Cuvee Royal Intensive 24hr Mousse both in the morning then again in the evening. The texture of this moisturiser is really nice, a kind of thick whipped mousse texture that sinks in nicely. I’ve read some reviews saying that it’s quite a rich cream but I find it to be perfect for a moisturiser intended for both day and night. Again this moisturiser is enriched with ingredients from grapes and QT40 to help rejuvenate skin. I have to say I REALLY like this cream so far. It sinks in nicely and leaves the skin feeling moisturised and soft. I’d also say my skin looks brighter and slightly firmer already.

I haven’t experienced any problems while using both of the Lacura Cuvvee Royal products in fact my skin is looking much better already. As well as the price being amazing, all the products are £7.99 which I think is absolutely incredible for the quality of the products. The packaging is also pretty good for the price especially the Lacura Cuvee Royal Intensive 24hr Mousse. I’ve used some products that cost much much more than this one and the packaging is no where near as good. Lacura Cuvee Royal Intensive 24hr Mousse packaging is designed to keep the product as protected as possible and even comes with a little spatula for application. I also like the fact that the Lacura Cuvee Royal Luminous Serum Concentrate has little bubbles on encapsulated gold flecks to make it look like champagne as well as giving it a premium feel. So yeah, I really like what I’ve tried from Lacura Cuvvee Royal range and I will be stocking up.
