Recently, Aldi released 3 new eyeshadow palettes into their Lacura makeup range. All of them are amazing dupes for Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes. I picked up Lacura Revival, the Modern Renaissance dupe. Read on to get the full review!

I love a budget eyeshadow palette. I previously had a thing for Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes. I mean, I still do, I just haven’t purchased many recently.

In fact, Makeup Revolution has a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette, which is a great palette for the autumn months.

I do still like that palette but I am seriously impressed with the new Aldi eyeshadow palette. I wish I had picked up the other two now. (I’ve just ordered Desert Rain online here! See below for more info on Desert Rain palette).

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette is a product I’ve wanted for a long time. I just can’t bring myself to pay over £40 for an eyeshadow palette.

Aldi’s version (or dupe) is on sale for £5.99. That’s a much more palatable price!

Aldi Lacura Velvet Eyeshadow Palettes

Aldi released three new eyeshadow palettes. All dupes for Anastasia Beverly Hills. The Aldi Lacura eyeshadows feel surprisinly high end. The outside is covered in a velvet like material. Inside there is a mirror and a double ended eyeshadow brush. The brush isn’t brilliant, but they rarely are.

The palettes contain 14 eyeshadows, a mix of shimmer, metallic and matte shades. The three palettes are:

(Just a note about the shade Thrive. For some reason it’s showing as a mustard-like shade in my photos. It’s actually a light, warm ochre brown. Everything else is closer to the true colour. I’ll add swatches below).

Aldi describe their Revival palette as warm-toned. The majority of shades are warm leaning but there’s a couple that’s more neutral/cool. That aside, this is a stunning palette. I couldn’t decide which palette to buy but the beautiful shades of Era and Vive swung it for me.

Era is a gorgeous muted raspberry shade. It isn’t as bright as Love Letter (which it’s supposed to be a dupe for) but I think it’s actually more wearable. Vive is a brick shade with shimmer running through it. Again this is a darker version of the colour it’s a dupe of. Venetian Red is brighter, but I think I might prefer Aldi’s take on it. Especially for my pale skin tone.

Other than those small differences Aldi’s Revival is a pretty good dupe! I’ve tried a few different eyeshadow palettes from Aldi and I think this might be my favourite formula yet.

Aldi Lacura Desert Rain Palette

I couldn’t resist purchasing the more muted Desert Rain Aldi eyeshadow palette.

Like Revival palette this is a good mix of mattes, shimmer and glitter eyeshadow formulas.

The shades are a bit more muted than Revival. Again there appears to be only one dud and that’s Night Sky. The formulas is inconsistent and dry.

The other eyeshadows don’t seem to have this problem. Everyone is evenly pigmented, creamy and easy to blend.

This is a beautiful palette. Perfect for everyday wear or for a more glamorous night time look.

There’s a good range of browns, beautiful glitters and some reddish tones.

I am so impressed with these eyeshadows!

Amazing Formula

The eyeshadows are all highly pigmented. With the exception of one shade, all of the eyeshadows feel buttery. The only one that feels dry is Renaissance. It might just be a dud in an otherwise amazing palette.

I’m actually really surprised at how buttery these shadows feel. You only usually get this kind of formula in higher end palettes. The buttery feel makes the shadows easy to blend. They are very pigmented though so it’s a good idea to build up slowly.

Even without primer these eyeshadows last all day. The shade range means you can easily create everyday looks to more full on night time looks. You’ll probably want to apply with your own eyeshadow brush though as the one included isn’t great. It’s not awful but really not the best.

The Round Up

You should definitely pick one or all of these Aldi Velvet eyeshadow palettes up the next time you’re in Aldi. Revival is incredible for the £5.99 price. I would happily pay more for it.

The shades are amazing, the formula brilliant and packaging sturdy. I honestly cannot fault them for the price.

These eyeshadow palettes would also make a great stocking filler or Secret Santa (if we’re doing that this year!).
