Molton Brown Suede Orris review

(Contains PR Samples & Affiliate Links)

Molton Brown was one of the first luxury bath and shower gels I ever tried. It was their gorgeous Ylang-Ylang Bath and Shower gel (aff link) which is still one of my favourite scents. I’ve recently been treating myself to indulgent showers and rich body care so the new Molton Brown Suede Orris* was the perfect addition to my mini pamper sessions.

Time is largely of the essence when it comes to pampering myself lately (or just basic cleanliness). It doesn’t take long for me to hear a small person shouting ‘mummy mummy MUMMEEE!” and I imagine quite a few of you know exactly what I mean. So to maximise my time I use the nicest shower washes all the time (I’ll be blogging about my favourite and ethical shower washes soon, I have some incredible ones to share). I’ve stopped keeping the best for special occasions, I am living my best life (that’s what all the cool kids say right?).

Molton Brown Suede Orris bath and shower gel review

Suede Orris perfectly describes this soft powdery and floral scent from Molton Brown. This fragrance contains some of my favourites notes; jasmine, rose, mandarin, underscored with cedarwood (you can find out the full notes here). Apparently the perfumer of Suede Orris drew inspiration from the Medici family from Renaissance Florence, and I get that. It smells luxurious, powerful yet velvet soft. The Suede Orris eau de toilette* is long lasting and opulent, a modern take on a classic scent. For me this is more of an evening scent but of course it can be worn at anytime depending on your taste. (For reference my current favourite scents are Le Labo Bergamot 22 and Le Labo Jasmin 17).

What I love about Molton Brown is that their shower gels are also excellent bubble baths. I have extremely sensitive skin on my arms and many bath products seriously irritate my skin but thankfully Molton Brown isn’t one of them.  Molton Brown also give the bubbliest of bubble baths. It’s so disappointing when you run a bubble bath and only a tiny froth appears or doesn’t last long. A Molton Brown bubble bath lasts plus it feels very moisturising, which is something I don’t usually experience; instead my skin often feels dry and irritated. Suede Orris as a shower gel is equally pleasurable. You only need the tiniest amount to give a soothing lather that not only cleanses but also leaves the skin feeling soft. It’s been a while since I’ve used a Molton Brown shower gel or bubble bath and I kind of regret that. I have my eye on the new Geranium Nefertum, it sounds absolutely gorgeous.

molton brown suede orris body lotion review

I’m also super sensitive to body moisturiser, especially on my arms so I was a little bit trepidatious to use the Suede Orris body lotion*. As well as my skin being sensitive it’s also very dry. I have a tough time finding a body moisturiser that doesn’t irritate but also deeply moisturises. I am really impressed with Molton Brown’s body lotion, in fact it’s one of the best moisturisers I’ve found for my very dry skin. It’s packed full of skin loving ingredients such as macadamia oil and shea butter and it also smells divine. Putting this on after a hot shower in the evening feels incredibly luxurious and comforting. It might seem inconsequential but taking these small moments out really does improve my overall well-being (you might know I live with chronic pain, mobility problems and fatigue. I’ve been attempting some yoga to help with chronic pain). I can’t always afford something as indulgent as Molton Brown so I am fully appreciating the experience!
