I’m endlessly impressed with the marketing surrounding Glossier’s products. Marketing and lifestyle boundaries are blurred, and word of mouth (or Instagram post) is the key marketing strategy.

Take this story for example. Reaching out to fans of the brand and enlisting them is a very clever business move, yet it also feels organic and real to the brand. That’s a difficult thing to get right. Glossier get the importance of Instagram. Glossier isn’t just a beauty brand, it’s part of a lifestyle. All the products, the packaging, and the stickers included in deliveries are designed to be photographed and shared on Instagram.

That’s a genius marketing trick. Yet, Glossier is the anti-thesis to the ever prevalent “Instagram makeup”. That full, high definition makeup epitomised by Nikki Tutorials for example. Glossier is all about skin first, makeup second. Which is a breath of fresh air. And I’m just as much a sucker for hyped up advertising and millennial pink packaging as anyone so of course I’ve been buying quite a few Glossier products.

Glossier Boy Brow Review

My most recent purchase is Glossier’s biggest selling product, their Boy Brow. I’ve used quite a few of these products (including the YSL version which is brilliant but almost double the price of Glossier) but I think Glossier’s is possibly my favourite. I have unruly and thinning eyebrows (I hit the jackpot there) so I need a product that both holds my eyebrow shape and also bulk up what I have. On days where I can’t be bothered to fill my eyebrows in I just use Boy Brow and my eyebrows look fuller and will be held in place all day.

Just a quick shout out to the pencil I’m currently using. I picked up the Skinny Brow Pencil from Primark not really expecting much but it’s amazing! It’s a great dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz and it only costs £2. I’m going to be doing a little review of the Primark makeup I’ve been using. Honestly, I am so impressed with it. So, anyway, Boy Brow is genuinely really good.

Glossier Cloud Paint Review

Next is the much lauded Glossier Cloud Paint. I had such high hopes for this product. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s good, it’s just not brilliant. I have the shade Puff and I’m also going to buy Dusk. I think the reason I’m not blown away with Cloud Paint is because I’ve used Becca Beach Tint and that is the daddy of liquid blush. If you haven’t used Becca Beach Tint I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

All the shades eg watermelon and raspberry are scented to smell like the fruit and they are delicious. For me, Cloud Paint doesn’t have a great wear time and the skin on my cheeks are normal. But Cloud Paint does apply super easy and gives a nice fresh glow. So it is worth trying, however I think Becca Beach Tint is much better.

 

Glossier Stretch Concealer Review

Finally, is Glossier Stretch Concealer. Again, I’m not blown away with this but it’s still a decent product. I mainly use Stretch concealer under my eyes. It does a great job at brightening dark circles. The best way to use this is by applying a little at a time and heating it up on your finger tips.

Even though this is sheer it can become thick looking if applied too heavy handed. I know other people use it as a foundation too but I think this would be suited to dry/normal skin types better. If you’re like me and you get creasing under your eyes just set it with a little bit of powder and that should hold it in place.
