REN is without doubt one of my favourite skincare brands. Not only do they produce innovative skincare products but they’re actually making an effort to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging. I will be featuring their Atlantic Kelp & Magnesium Anti-Fatigue shower gel soon but briefly this amazing smelling shower gel is packaged in completely recycled plastic, of which 20% is reclaimed Ocean plastic. REN plan to be zero waste by 2021, which I think is an incredible move. Here’s hoping more will follow suit too!
But first REN’s newest addition to their Evercalm range, the Overnight Recovery Balm*. Evercalm is REN’s multi-award winning range that is specifically designed to help calm and soothe sensitive skin types (but it’s suitable for everyone). The Evercalm range contains bio-actives and other ingredients that reduce irritations, calm redness, as well as helping to repair and strengthen the skin’s barrier.
I think REN Overnight Recovery Balm* might be perfect for the transitioning seasons. But really the balm is suitable all year round. I think the distinctive balm-to-oil texture would be especially soothing in the harsher autumn/winter. The overnight recovery balm feels so soothing and comforting, like your favourite book or film but for your skin.
I’m a big fan of facial oils (I’ve previously blogged about facial oils here and why you should be using them). I generally prefer them over cream moisturisers. I think they just work better, oils are more nourishing and soothing than their cream/lotion counterparts. I know some people are wary of oils, especially if you have oily skin but oils might actually be the thing that will help your skin to rebalance. REN Overnight Recovery Balm is definitely a good place to start. The balm is gently melted between your fingers and a small bit of the gorgeous balm is all that’s needed. The oil has a really soft scent to it which in itself smells calming, but it doesn’t linger long. The oil sinks in quickly leaving the skin feeling nourished and comforted.
REN have increased the effectiveness of the oils in their balm; olive, almond, borage and linseed, by activating them with digestive enzymes. Apparently this increases the oils antioxidant capabilities by 114%, and also makes them absorb quicker and deeper. I’ve been using REN Overnight Recovery Balm for around 2 weeks now and my skin definitely loves this product. My skin feels soothed and nourished, and I’m already seeing a reduction in the little bit of redness I have. I think this would be a perfect addition to your transitioning skincare routine.
