Hello *tap* *tap* is this thing on? Ahh it’s been a while, but I’m back and feeling refreshed! A while a go I wrote a post about adopting a slower approach to blogging.
I was increasingly growing cynical with blogging, or more specifically the use of bots and buying followers. There are still many amazing bloggers out there, who are producing their own content while engaging and building a real community around them. They make it look easy so when others try to do the same but don’t get immediate results or any kind of results for whatever reason some resort to underhand measures. With blogging being so easy to start up many are opting for the latter route to “success”.
Like so many other bloggers the cheating got to me so I decided to step back and have a break. I am so glad I did. Initially I just stopped looking at my blog but I still carried on with Instagram. I find the community on Instagram to be amazing. I have a wonderful group of women around me and it is a joy to see them creating extraordinary content. But my health hasn’t been great either and I was struggling to keep up so I’m taking a little break from Instagram too. Guess what? Nothing bad happened! In fact, it’s been the best decision. It’s allowed me to have a proper think about what I want to do with my blog rather than muddying the waters worrying about content. Thanks to Pinterest and the use of Tailwind my traffic has EXPLODED rather than taking a hit. (I am going to write more on this, because guys, it is about numbers). This week I’ve had my highest blog traffic ever, so if you’re unsure about Pinterest read my introduction to the visual search engine here.
I also won a place on the brilliant Simple & Season’s new blogging for business course. I think this will really help me focus on my blog more, because honey, I’m not letting the cheaters get to me. So if you’re struggling, which I know many of you are, please take that break, talk with people who understand, get out of your head and don’t give up. We started blogging for a reason and I’ll be damned if I’m letting the bad apples (that is a very polite way of putting it) stop us.
Which kind of leads me onto (but not really) a lipstick that has been making my life considerably better Three Concept Eyes (3CE) Mood Recipe Lipstick in 909. This is a primer and matte lipstick in one and is the most gorgeous red-brown and I am in love with it. This Mood Recipe lipstick might be the most perfect autumn/fall lipstick out there. The packaging looks amazing, the pigmentation is incredible and it is comfortable as well as long-wearing on the lips. The formula is amazing, possibly one of my favourite. Honestly, this is one of the best lipsticks I own. I’m planning on purchasing 116 too. I bought several other products from 3CE that I reviewed here and so far I’ve really liked everything I’ve tried from the StyleNanda brand.
What do you do when everything just gets a little too much?
